PORTAGE, MI – On Thursday, May 19, 2016, at approximately 12:04 a.m., the Portage Department of Public Safety received a report of a hit-and-run personal injury accident in the 7500 block of Portage Road.
The victim was driving southbound on Portage Road in a 1999 Acura and was struck from behind by a dark-color suspect vehicle. The suspect left the accident scene and fled south on Portage Road.
The victim’s vehicle was occupied by four residents of Three Rivers. The rear passenger, a 28-year-old male, complained of neck and back pain. He was transported to Bronson Hospital by Life Ambulance for treatment. The three other occupants, 54, 53 and 10 years old, were not injured.
The suspect fled south on Portage Road and lost front end parts from the vehicle near Bacon Road. Officers were able to determine that the suspect vehicle was a black Honda passenger car, which was located a short time later.
