Hunting Accident reported in Sanilac County

SANILAC TOWNSHIP, MI – On Friday, May 20th, 2016, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Sanilac Central Dispatch received a call regarding a male subject who had suffered injuries from accidental shooting while hunting in the 200 block of Ridge Road in Sanilac Township.Sheriff

Deputies responded to McKenzie Hospital in Sandusky and it was determined that 47-year-old Troy Davis of Croswell had been turkey hunting with his son when he was struck by a bird-shot pellet in the leg. It was determined that Davis had been hunting with his 15-year-old son when the son shot at a turkey not realizing his father was in a position behind the turkey. Davis was struck in the leg from approximately sixty yards away.

He was treated at McKenzie Hospital for the leg injury and released later that day.
