NORTHPORT, MI – The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fight which occurred in the Village of Northport early Sunday morning.Fight in Leelanau County Leaves Two with Serious Injuries

On June 5th, 2016, at 1:38 a.m., Leelanau County 911 received a call of an assault which had occurred in the parking lot of Tucker’s in the Village of Northport.The male victim on scene was reporting he had been stabbed with a knife.

Deputies responded and spoke to a witness who stated two men had been involved in a fight. The witness stated an argument escalated into a physical fight during which the victim stated he had been stabbed in the side. This victim, a 27-year-old man, from Northport, was transported to Munson Hospital for treatment.

The suspect had fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

At approximately 3:08 a.m., the suspect arrived at Munson Hospital after being transported there by a friend, from an accident scene in Leelanau Township north of Cathead Bay Drive on County Road 629. The suspect had serious injuries related to either the fight he had been in or the traffic collision he had been involved in after the fight.

After being treated at Munson Hospital, the suspect, a 27-year-old man, from Northport, was arrested for assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, domestic assault as the victim is his room-mate and for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

He is lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.
