DETROIT, MI – The former MSU basketball star, Keith Appling, appears to have a gun problem. Appling was arrested for a second time for illegally carrying a concealed weapon on Saturday, June 18th, 2016.
Keith Appling, 24-years-old, was arrested at Hanna Street and 7 Mile Road at about 1:30 a.m. He was in the backseat of his brother’s vehicle when they were pulled over for speeding early Saturday morning.
He was arrested last month after he allegedly brought a loaded gun into a strip club. On Sunday, May 1st, 2016 at approximately 6:47 p.m., Dearborn police officers were dispatched to The Pantheion strip club in the 12900 block of Michigan Avenue because security observed a man pulling a firearm out of the trunk of a car in the parking lot. The police observed a car in the parking lot matching the description given by security and approached Keith Appling, who was in the driver’s seat of the car. As a result of the police search of the car, it is alleged that Appling had a handgun under the driver’s seat, a small amount of suspected marijuana inside the car and a loaded weapon in the trunk. Appling was placed under arrest at the scene.
Appling is a former Michigan State basketball player, currently playing in the NBA for the Orlando Magic.
