ROMEO, MI – Macomb County Sheriff detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s M.A.C.E. (Macomb Area Computer Enforcement) Team have arrested a Romeo man after he solicited sex what who he thought was a male child.
On June 29th, a M.A.C.E. detective responded to an advertisement that was posted on a popular computer website. Over a two-day period, the man sent graphic messages (including photographs) to the Sheriff’s detective in an effort to arrange a sexual liaison.
Using investigative techniques, sheriff detectives were able to determine that the person posting the messages was a 55 year-old Romeo man.
At approximately 2:30pm, on June 30th, Charles Edgar Keller was arrested after he had driven to a predetermined location with the intention of engaging in sexual activity with a child. The green Mini Cooper that he was driving was impounded.
Keller is charged with four (4) counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity, a twenty year felony, and one count of “Computers – Using to Commit a Crime”.
On Friday, July 1st, Keller was video-arraigned in the in the 42-1 District Court of Romeo. He was given a $150,000 cash-or-surety (only) bond. He is due back in Court on July 12th, 2016. He remains in the Macomb County Jail.
