The Barry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of an assault with intent to commit murder and unlawful imprisonment of a 66-year-old woman from Assyria Twp.
Cory Wagner, 27-years-old and Tiffany Chanthavong, 21-years-old have been arrested in Winnebago County, IL., after they severely assaulted Wagner’s mother and fled Michigan.
After being assaulted, the victim was threatened with a knife and bound with duct tape before being tied to a chair and locked in the bathroom of the residence. The victim’s credit card was taken by the assailants, along with the victim’s car. The victim was eventually able to escape and call for help. She was later transported to Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek.
The two suspects were arrested by the Rockford, Illinois Police Department on the morning of Tuesday, July 5th, 2016. The stolen vehicle was also recovered at that time.
