Oakland County Man Suspected of DUI Crashes into Motorcycle

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, MI – Two people were injured on a motorcycle in Oakland County when a man suspected of driving drunk crashed into them on Thursday, July 14th, 2016 at approximately 11:45 p.m.

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies in Independence Township were dispatched to a motor vehicle serious injury crash located near Sashabaw Road and Flemings Lake Road. motorcycle crash

The vehicles involved were a 2001 Mercedes Benz and a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle.  Upon arrival, the operator, a 31-year-old man, from Oxford Township, and his passenger, a 20-year-old woman, from Washington Township, who were on the motorcycle, were transported to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac with serious (non-life threatening) injuries.

The Duty Crash Investigator was contacted and responded to the scene. Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash.

The responsible driver of the car, a 45-year-old man, from Bloomfield Hills, was taken into custody for OUIL, cleared and lodged at OCJ.

The condition of the operator and passenger of the motorcycle are not known at this time.
