17 yr old Drowns in Oakland County Lake

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI – The West Bloomfield Police Department requested the assistance of the Oakland County Dive Team, for a 17-year-old who had jumped from a boat near the 4000 block of Haggerty Rd (Bay Pointe Golf Club).  Sean Patrick Collins

The 17-year-old had gone into the water and had not been seen for five minutes.

Dive teams located the body of Sean Patrick Collins, a Walled Lake Central student who went missing late Wednesday night, July 20th, 2016, after jumping in the water of Middle Straits Lake.

Sean Collins was out on a boat with several other friends, ages 16 to 17.  He decided to jump into the water and did not resurface.

According to police, there are indications that the teens had been drinking.

The victim’s body was recovered by Sheriff’s divers at 8:36 a.m. Thursday morning.


Sean Patrick Collins of Wolverine Lake was born on April 26, 1999 in Commerce Twp. Michigan to Tom and Maureen Collins and passed away on July 21, 2016 at the age of 17.

Beloved son of Tom and Maureen Collins .
Devoted brother of Kelly Collins and Brendan Collins.
Grandson of Albert (d. 1992) and Sophie Collins and Nancy and John Beagen (d.2006)
Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Sean was a popular student who would have been a senior at Walled Lake Central High School. He was very active in the Walled Lake Schools Musical production/ choir and loved all sports especially Basketball.

Funeral mass from St. William Catholic Church 531 Common St. Walled Lake Tuesday, July 26th 10:30 am (In State 9:30 am). Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 340 N. Pontiac Trail Walled Lake (3 Blks. S. of Maple Rd.) Sunday July 24 from 5pm to 9pm and Monday July 25 from 2pm to 9pm.
