SUTTONS BAY, MI – On Tuesday, July 19th, 2016, at approximately 9:51 p.m., deputies from the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office received information of a possible sexual relationship between a 31-year-old man from Suttons Bay and a 15-year-old girl from Grand Traverse County.
Deputies responded to the residence in Suttons Bay Twp. and located both individual’s at that residence. During the subsequent investigation, deputies were able to determine that illegal sexual activity had taken place and that the parties had been dating for the last 4-5 months. Deputies also determined that a similar parallel investigation had been recently completed by the Michigan State Police, Cadillac Post, involving both subjects. As a result of these findings, the man was arrested and lodged at the Leelanau County Jail.
Upon review of the information, the Leelanau County Prosecutor has authorized a two-count Felony warrant for Criminal Sexual Conduct -3rd Degree. One count for the similar State Police investigation and one count for the Leelanau County complaint.
The male subject arrested is David Joseph Kalchik, 31-years-old, of Suttons Bay. He is still lodged at the Leelanau County Jail with a $250,000.00 cash/surety bond.
