Detroit Man Charged in Kidnapping and Sexual Assault on Foley Street

DETROIT, MI – Jovon Boykins, Sr., 35-years-old, of Detroit, has been charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree and Kidnapping. sexual-assault

On Sunday, July 10th, 2016, at approximately 10:50 a.m., an 18-year-old woman had a fight with her boyfriend and left his car, and began walking in the area of Hubbell and Plymouth streets. Shortly, thereafter, Boykins offered the woman a ride home and she got into his car. She asked the defendant to drop her off on Greenfield and Plymouth, but he took her to a vacant house in the 10600 block of Foley in Detroit. It is alleged that Jovon Boykins held the victim against her will and sexually assaulted her. The investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the Boykins on Wednesday, July 27th, 2016.

Jovon Boykins was arraigned on July 28th, at 2:30 p.m., in 36th District Court and received a $250,000 cash/surety bond. His probable cause hearing is on August 4, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and the preliminary examination is on August 10, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Deborah Langston in 36th District Court.
