DETROIT, MI – Jujuan Emel-Lamar Cash, 24-years-old, of Detroit, has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Rajune Liruth-Georgian Watkins, 24-years-old, also of Detroit.
On Sunday, August 7th, 2016, at approximately 8:10 a.m., Jujuan Cash went to the home he shared with his 23-year-old brother in the 18600 block of Meyers. It is alleged that Cash began shooting at his 23-year-old brother and fatally shot the brother’s 24-year-old female friend while they were lying in bed.
The 23-year-old brother ran from the house to a Home Depot located in the 18700 block of Meyers. Cash chased him on foot and the brother ran to the rear of the store. While in the store, Cash approached a 23-year-old clerk at a cash register and demanded money from him at gunpoint. The clerk gave Cash money from the register and Cash left the gun on the floor and fled on foot back to his home.
On the same day, the police were called to Cash’s home on Meyers, where they discovered the lifeless body of Ms. Watkins and arrested Jujuan Cash. Ms. Watkins was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Cash’s 23-year-old brother suffered a gunshot wound to the chin and the left arm and is currently being treated in a local hospital.
Jujuan Cash has been charged with First Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm.
He was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court. The probable cause conference is scheduled for August 18, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for August 25, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Shannon Holmes in 36th District Court.
