MT. CLEMENS, MI – The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and the Macomb County Friend of the Court engaged in a week-long bench warrant enforcement sweep during the week of August 8th – 12th, 2016.
The purpose of the sweep was to focus on arresting individuals who have outstanding warrants for non-payment of child support.
Oftentimes, the sweeps are announced beforehand in order to encourage those with outstanding warrants to voluntarily appear and avoid arrest. This sweep was not announced beforehand.
“Typically, we announce our sweeps prior to their start to prompt those individuals with warrants to appear and resolve them but periodically we take advantage of the element of surprise. We’re still willing to work with individuals who want to personally appear at the Friend of the Court to resolve their warrants.” Thomas Blohm – Director, Macomb County FOC
During the sweep, 62 persons were arrested for outstanding Friend of the Court warrants. The arrests satisfy $359,376.00 worth of outstanding warrants. The persons arrested account for $1,447,440.00 in Friend of the Court arrearages.
People with outstanding Friend of the Court arrearages are encouraged to voluntarily appear at the FOC Office. They will be given the opportunity to have their circumstances reviewed to determine if they qualify for a special program that can help substantially reduce state-owed arrearages. The Macomb County Friend of the Court Office is located at 40 N. Main St, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043.
