PONTIAC, MI – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting deputies from the Pontiac Substation with a fatal crash that occurred on Perry Street at Joslyn Road at about 8:37 p.m. on Monday, September 12th, 2016.
A 46-year-old resident of Pontiac was operating an unregistered minibike north on Perry Street with no headlight and no operational braking system. A 35-year-old Rochester Hills resident was operating a 2013 Kia west on Joslyn Road and was attempting to turn left onto Perry Street when the crash occurred.
The driver of the mini bike, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to McLaren Hospital by Star EMS where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Kia was uninjured and was wearing her safety belt.
Alcohol may be a factor on the part of the mini bike driver.
The crash remains under investigation.
