On Saturday, October 8th, 2016, at 9:20 p.m., Glen Lake Fire and Rescue and Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a single vehicle traffic crash on South Woodridge Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2014 blue Jeep off the roadway into a tree. The driver and passenger were outside of the vehicle talking to Glen Lake Fire personnel. Both people were uninjured.
The driver was identified as a 26 year old man from Lansing.
He stated while driving his Jeep northbound on Woodridge Drive a deer ran out in front of him. The driver stated he swerved to miss the deer but lost control of his vehicle. The Jeep left the roadway striking several wooden posts traveling down an embankment striking a tree.
During the interview the deputy could smell alcohol on the driver.
An investigation determined the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested for operating a vehicle intoxicated. He was lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.
