HOLT, MI – On Monday, November 1st, 2016, at 7:13 p.m., the 911 Center put out a call to the Delhi Township Fire Department for fire on Keller Road.
Delhi Township Fire arrived four minutes later after the call went out. Two minutes after the arrival of the fire department, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office arrived to help evacuate the building.
The fire was extinguished very quickly by Delhi Township Fire. It was a garden level fire. Shortly after the fire was extinguished the body of a 5-year-old female was located in the same bedroom that the fire was located in.
Suspect is known to the victim and is a 25-year-old male from Holt.
Dr. Dave Hornak , Superintendent of the Holt School District was notified as the child was a student in the Holt Public School System.
The Ingham County Sheriff’s Department will be seeking warrants tomorrow from Prosecutor Whitmer for Open Murder as well as arson related crimes.
Names are not being released at this point in the investigation.
Involved in the investigation is ICSO, Delhi Township Fire Dept. MSP Lansing Post, MSP Fugitive Team and MSP Crime Lab.
