Four Arrested as the Result of a Joint Forgery/Drug Investigation in Huron County

BAD AXE, MI – Yesterday morning, Wednesday, December 28th, 2016, the Huron County Sheriff”s Office and the Bad Axe City Police started investigating several forged checks that were being passed at a Verona Twp. business.

It was believed the suspects had gone earlier to the Detroit area and were on their way back with heroin. Last evening their vehicle, a 2000 Cadillac Escalade, was spotted by the Bad Axe City Police and stopped at a Colfax Twp. apartment complex. Deputies and officers ended up finding heroin in it, which led to the arrest of all three occupants. It was then learned that two small children had also been taken to Detroit to pick up this heroin. Because they had been dropped off earlier with relatives, it was decided to contact DHS this morning for possible future child abuse charges.

Arrested last night and who were officially charged and arraigned today are: 25yearold Alicia Ford of Bad Axe was arrested for felony possession of heroin and remains in jail on a $5,000 cash bond, 30yearold Daniel Bucholtz of Pigeon was arrested for felony possession of heroin, he too remains in jail on a $5,000 cash bond, 33yearold Christina Shepherd of Bad Axe was arrested for #1 Felony Possession with the Intent to Deliver Heroin, #2 Felony Forgery and #3 Felony of Uttering and Publishing. She remains lodged in our jail and is currently being held without bond.

From the traffic stop, two search warrants were eventually served. The first one was in the 600 block of W. Huron Ave. in Bad Axe. Deputies and Bad Axe City Police Officers seized prescription medication, paraphernalia and packaging material. The second search was done at a residence in the 1900 block of Crown Road within Meade Twp. This led to a 32yearold Filion man being arrested on an unrelated arrest warrant. Deputies and Bad Axe Officers ended up seizing packaging material, marijuana and substances that are believed to contain heroin.

These substances will be sent to the crime lab for testing and other possible future felony charges. The suspect vehicle, Cadillac Escalade, was also seized and forfeiture proceedings are forth coming.
