Benton Harbor Party Stores Targeted by Multiple Thieves

BENTON HARBOR, MI – Multiple suspects have targeted two party stores to rob them in Benton Harbor.  Police believe both robberies are connected.

In the early morning hours of 12/26/2016, Officers of BHDPS were dispatched to 268 E. Empire, the JB Party Store to investigate an armed robbery. Several subjects entered the Party Store and presented a weapon and announced a robbery. The subjects stole a large amount of cash and then exited and fled on foot. The individuals were wearing masks or had their faces covered with clothing.

Again in the early morning hours of 01/05/2017, Officers of BHDPS were dispatched to 268 E. Empire the JB Party Store to investigate an armed robbery. Several subjects entered the Party Store and presented a weapon and announced a robbery. The individuals were wearing masks or had their faces covered with clothing. During this second armed robbery one of the suspects fired a round into the ceiling before taking a large amount of cash. The suspects fled on foot.

These incidents are being investigated by Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety. BHDPS is also being assisted by the Michigan State Police Major Case Unit. On both occasions the crime scenes were processed and forensic evidence was located.
