Three Arrested for Double Murder in Westland

WESTLAND, MI – Westland Police, with assistance from the US Marshall’s Service, have arrested three suspects for their involvement in yesterday’s double homicide.

Work began on this case in the early morning hours of Monday, February 6th, 2017 after the homicides occurred. Work continued through to the early morning hours of February 7th resulting in the three arrests. Warrant recommendations are being completed and will be turned into the Wayne County Prosecutors Office shortly.

The names of the suspects are being withheld until they have been arraigned which is anticipated to be later this week. We will update you with their information as soon as possible.

The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Jordan Baker and 35-year-old Howard Wick of Westland.

The Westland Police Department was dispatched to the area of Norene and Treadwell a little before 3:00 a.m. on a report of shots being fired in the area.

Upon arrival at the location officers located a victim who had been shot. Howard Wick, of Westland, was transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Officers checked the surrounding area and discovered another victim, a 19-year-old Westland resident, Jordan Baker, had been shot and was also dead. This victim was turned over to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office.

It is believed that this was a narcotic related incident and that the parties involved were associated.

Jordan was born on July 2, 1997 and passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017.

Jordan was a resident of Westland, Michigan.

Howard passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017.

Howard was a resident of Westland, Michigan at the time of his passing.

Funeral Services will be at the R.G. G.R. Harris Funeral Home 31551 Ford Rd. Garden City Monday February 13 2017 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-9 p.m.
