WESTLAND, MI – Westland Police arrested a subject responsible for multiple retails frauds thanks to tips submitted through the department’s Facebook page.
Jared Jones, a 27-year-old resident of Westland, was arrested on Wednesday, February 1st, 2017, on multiple counts of retail fraud, receiving and concealing stolen property, and assault and battery.
Police had released images of Jones committing retail frauds at Lowes and K-Mart. The distribution of these images resulted in the identification of Jones, and subsequent investigation found he was also responsible for retail frauds at the Westland Target.
Jones was arraigned at the 18th District Court on February 2nd, 2017 in front Judge Cicirelli on four counts of retail fraud, four counts of receiving and concealing stolen property, and one count of assault and battery for an altercation he had with one store employee during a retail fraud.
Jones was assigned a bond of $10,000, 10% and will reappear at the 18th District Court for a pretrial on February 16, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
