MSP needs information on Theft from Oakland County Business

ORTONVILLE, MI – The Michigan State Police Metro North Post is seeking information identifying an unknown white male that committed a larceny of a chainsaw from the True Value Hardware store located on 440 N Ortonville Road in the Village of Ortonville, Oakland County.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect entered the True Value hardware store on February 19, 2017 and told the store clerk that he was there to pick up his father’s chainsaw that had been turned in to the store to be repaired. The store clerk retrieved the only chainsaw that had been turned in for repair and gave it to the suspect who paid $20.00 for the repair before leaving the store with the chainsaw valued at $450.00.

The suspect is described as a white male, approx. 25 – 30 years old, approx. 230 lbs. with dark colored hair and a short beard. It is possible he chews tobacco. The suspect was last seen as a passenger in a dark colored, unknown make and model sport utility vehicle (SUV) leaving the store. There is no description of the driver.
