Detroit Mother Charged in Non-Fatal Shooting of Her Son

DETROIT, MI – Shecolby Lemay Green, 29-years-old, of Detroit, has been charged in connection with the non-fatal shooting of her nine-year-old son.

On March 25, 2017 at approximately 10:00 a.m., in the family home located in the 5500 block of the John C. Lodge Service Drive, it is alleged that the victim was in Green’s  upstairs bedroom, found a hand gun in Green’s purse and shot himself in the right hand.  Green called 911.  EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.  He is expected to recover from his wound.

Green has been charged with Child Abuse 2nd and Felony Firearm*.  Green was arraigned this afternoon before Magistrate Bari Blake Wood.  The probable cause conference is scheduled for April 10, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for April 17, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.  Both hearings are before Judge William McConico in 36th District Court.  The defendant received a $50,000/10% bond.
