Inkster Shooting is Marijuana Deal Gone Bad

INKSTER, MI – On Tuesday May 2nd, 2017, at approximately 10:20 P.M., Michigan State Police Second District, Special Investigative Section (SIS) Detectives were requested in the city of Inkster to investigate a non-fatal shooting involving two subjects. 

From the preliminary investigation after the officers arrived was that the victim had two gunshot wounds and was being treated at Beaumont-Dearborn Hospital.  The other suspect had one gunshot wound and was being treated at Beaumont-Annapolis.

After interviews it was determined that the victim knew the suspect and they had a prearranged meeting so the victim could buy a ¼ ounce of Marijuana from the suspect.  The victim drove to Lehigh St. and Bayhan St. to meet with the suspect.

The suspect entered the victim’s car and when the victim pulled out his money the suspect produced a semi-auto handgun and attempted to rob the victim.  A fight ensued inside the vehicle and during the struggle the victim was shot.  The suspect was then shot during the fight. The victim wrestled the gun away from the suspect and the suspect ran from the scene.

The victim drove to his residence and was being driven to the hospital by his mother when they flagged down the Garden City Police.  The suspect was driven to the hospital by an acquaintance.  The suspect lied several times about his identity and also claimed he was a victim of a drive-by shooting.  The suspect was treated and lodged pending further investigation and prosecutor review.
