Detroit Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of his Father

DETROIT, MI – Dante Louis Coker aka Dante Binion, 21-years-old, of Detroit, has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of his father Murray Upshaw, 40-years-old, and a female acquaintance Sharietta Jefferson, 27-years-old, both of Detroit.

On Saturday May 6th, 2017 at 10:13 p.m., in the family home located in the 8700 block of Epworth, it is alleged that after a brief verbal exchange, Coker fatally shot the two victims and fled the scene. Detroit Police later located and arrested the defendant on May 7, 2017 at East Warren and Eastlawn in Detroit.

Coker has been charged with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder and one count of felony firearm . He is expected to be arraigned in 36th District Court at 2:30 p.m. today.
