Drugs Believed Involved in Davison Freeway Crash that Killed 6 yr old Girl

DETROIT, MI – On Saturday, May 6th 2017, at approximately 6:20 PM, troopers assigned to the Metro South Post were dispatched to a one car injury crash on the westbound Davison Freeway near I 75 in the city of Detroit.

From the preliminary investigation and witness accounts revealed that the driver of a 1998 Olds Intrigue lost control of the vehicle, exited the freeway to the right, and overturned.

A six year old girl rear seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 24 year old woman from Detroit and the other rear seat passenger, a four year old girl, were transported to Henry Ford Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver had a suspended license at the time of the crash and drugs may be a factor. The driver was immediately taken into custody after being treated following the crash.  She was released from custody on May 8th pending blood test results and prosecutor review.
