DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a double shooting that took place in the parking lot of Club Venus on Michigan Avenue that left a 24-year-old woman dead and another person injured.
On Sunday, May 14th, 2017 at 1:20 a.m. in the 9000 block of Michigan Ave., as the victims were entering their vehicle which was parked in the parking lot of Club Venus, is when an unknown suspect exited a vehicle that was parked next to the victims’ vehicle. The suspect produced a handgun and began firing into the victims’ vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot through the parking lot and later entered his vehicle and escaped.
The young lady who lost her life in the shooting is a woman who is being identified on social media by the name of Regan Jelks. Regan was 24-years-old and suffered fatal gunshot wounds to her arm.
Regan was not a dancer at the club as many have thought or wondered about when news spread of the shooting.
The second victim is described as a black male, 23-years-old, who suffered a non-life threatening injury to his left hand.
The gunman is described as a black male, wearing a sweater with a hood. He escaped in a dark colored four door sedan, occupied by three other individuals.
