DETROIT, MI – A female Detroit Police officer was injured when she was hit by an impatient woman driver in a white Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck in southwest Detroit on Monday May 15th, 2017.

It happened at West Jefferson and West End at approximately 8:45 p.m. The officer was hit by the pickup truck while tending to a previous accident where a semi and a motorcyclist collided.

The woman driving pickup pulled up close to the accident scene where she started driving erratically to get around it. She did a u-turn where she mowed down a railroad sign as she fled the scene.

The female driver was taken into custody after police caught up with her near Jefferson and Crawford.

The officer’s foot was run over as the female driver tried to avoid the accident scene. The female officer has been taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital for treatment and is expected to be alright.  The motorcycle driver was taken to the hospital and is listed in serious condition
