State Police Investigating Serious Injury Crash in Kent County

WALKER, MI – Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Rockford Post are investigating a two-vehicle, serious injury crash which occurred on southbound US-131 north of Ann St. in the city of Walker on Thursday May 18th, 2017.

At approximately 7:18am, a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 27-year-old Grand Rapids man, lost control in the southbound lanes of US-131. The Grand Prix spun out of control and into the path of a south bound 2011 Ford Taurus, driven by a 31-year-old Newaygo man, where the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Grand Prix was transported from the scene by AMR Ambulance to Spectrum-Butterworth hospital where he remains in serious condition. The driver of the Taurus was treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the names of the drivers are being withheld pending the investigation.

The Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by the Walker Fire Department, Walker Police Department, Kent County Sheriff’s Department, and Merl’s Towing.
