10 Vehicles involved in Accident in Macomb County

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI – A ten vehicle pile-up, that is believed to have been caused by a semi driver, had the north bound lanes of M-53 just south of 32 Mile closed.

Sheriff Wickersham reports that shortly before 8:00 am this morning, Thursday, May 25th 2017, deputies responded to a personal injury accident involving 10 vehicles, including a semi-tractor trailer. The scene located on M-53 just south of 32 Mile Rd in Washington Twp, is currently being investigated by Sheriff’s Office Detectives and members of the Crash Investigation Unit.

The preliminary accident investigation indicates that a 54 year old Detroit man was operating a commercial tractor trailer (Heavy Metal Trucking) when it collided into vehicles which were stopped or preparing to stop, for the red light of northbound M-53 at 32 Mile Rd. Three individuals from separate vehicles were transported to local hospitals for critical injuries.

The investigation is continuing, any additional information resulting from the investigation will be provided at a later date.
