DDOT bus crashes into building on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT, MI – The Driver of a DDOT bus and the driver of a white SUV involved in an accident that occurred on Detroit west side were transported to the hospital, both in critical condition.

On Friday, May 26th, 2017, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Detroit Police stated that a driver, Elijah Brown, 18-years-old, of Detroit, in a white SUV, ran a stop sign while traveling on Doris St. at a high rate of speed when it hit a DDOT bus that was going northbound on Dexter. The bus then veered off the road, hit a utility pole and ran into the Sun Valley Foods building on Dexter Ave.

A total of five people, who were passengers on the bus, were initially trapped inside of it following the accident. They were transported to Henry Ford Hospital with varying injuries.
