St. Clair County Armed Robbery Suspect Kills Self in Detroit after Standoff

DETROIT, MI –  David White, the suspect in the home invasion, armed robbery and kidnapping in Brockway Township has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a standoff with Detroit Police.

A DPD spokesman made the announcement on the Detroit Police Department Facebook page. The spokesman said White had rented a room in Detroit. The landlord saw a story on WDIV, channel 4 in Detroit that White was wanted in St. Clair County.

The landlord called 911 and officers from the 4th Precinct responded. The spokesman went on to say that there was an approximately four hour standoff between White and police before White shot himself shortly after 9:00 a.m.

White was wanted by the Sheriff’s Office after entering the home of an 86 year old woman in the 10000 block of Wilkes Road yesterday afternoon. Once inside, he pointed a gun at the woman and said he needed money and a ride. The woman was forced to drive White to Detroit, where he purchased drugs. White got back in the woman’s car and they headed back towards Brockway Township. White then told the woman to pull over. White got out of the car at 14 Mile Road and Gratiot.
