Bicycle vs Car Accident being Investigated in Hillsdale County

PITTSFORD TOWNSHIP, MI – The Michigan State Police Jackson Post is investigating a traffic crash between a car and bicycle that occurred on Sunday June 4th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of South Pittsford Road and Market Street in Pittsford Township.

The bicycle, rode by a 14-year-old Pittsford Township teen, was traveling on Market Street where it entered the intersection of South Pittsford Road after disregarding the stop sign. As the bicycle entered the intersection, it lost control and it struck a vehicle traveling south on South Pittsford Rd. The driver of the vehicle, a 59-year-old Pittsford Township resident, was uninjured.

Multiple witnesses stated the teen riding the bicycle was not wearing a helmet and did not stop at the stop sign. The teen suffered head trauma as a result of the accident and was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo OH.

Troopers were assisted by the Pittsford Township Fire Department and Hudson EMS.
