Axle from Large Truck falls on Man at Waste Management in Pontiac Killing him

PONTIAC, MI – A 64-year-old man from Warren was killed on June 5th, 2017 when an axle from a large truck fell on him.

Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded Monday to the 200 block of E. Walton Blvd., Waste Management, on the report of an unconscious subject. Upon arrival, Deputies found that Paramedics from the Waterford Regional Fire Department were performing CPR on a victim. Paramedics from Star EMS arrived on the scene and transported the victim to McLaren Hospital – Oakland for further medical treatment.

Physicians were unable to revive the victim and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Deputies interviewed witnesses that had found the man. Witnesses stated that the he was found with an axle from a large truck lying across his midsection. Witnesses stated that he was found unresponsive. The man had been working on the repairs to the back end of the large truck for his employer.

Detectives responded to the scene to continue with the investigation. Detectives requested the OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory to respond the scene and assist them with processing the scene. An investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted and responded to the scene.

MIOSHA was also contacted and will be following up and conducting a separate investigation.
