Romulus Man Charged In Huron Township Assault

DETROIT, MI – Darien Noel Fickling , 47-years-old, of Romulus, has been charged in connection with the assault of a 26-year-old Rockwood woman in Oakwood Metro Park in Huron Township.

On June 6, 2017, at 3:05 p.m. the complainant was jogging in the park when she observed the suspect riding a bicycle into an area with shade trees. When she turned to run in the opposite direction it is alleged that Fickling caught up to her, punched her in the face several times, and attempted to remove her clothes.

The female jogger fought Darien Fickling and he ran from the area with her cell phone. The woman ran in the opposite direction from the suspect and came to a home where a woman allowed her to enter and use the phone report the incident to the Huron Township Police Department. The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The defendant was arrested by two Metro Park police officers on the same day.

Today, Wednesday June 7th, 2017, Darien Fickling has been charged with one count each of: Kidnapping; Robbery Not Armed; Assault with Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct and Assault with Intent to Commit Great Bodily Harm.

Fickling was arraigned before 34th District Court Judge Brian Oakley.  The probable cause conference is scheduled for June 21, 2017 at 9:05 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for June 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.  Both hearings are before Judge Brian Oakley  The defendant received a $100,000 cash/surety bond.
