Several Injured in Two Car Crash in Sanilac County

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI – On June 9, 2017 at approximately 8:05 P.M. Sanilac Central Dispatch received a call regarding a two vehicle personal injury on Ruth Road at the intersection of Walker Road in Washington Township.

According to Sgt. Matt Armstrong, the investigation revealed that a 2015 GMC Sierra being driven by a 16­-year­-old male from Rochester was eastbound on Walker Road and did not come to a complete stop at the intersection of Ruth Road. That vehicle entered the path of a northbound 2007 Dodge Caravan being driven by a 41­-year­-old woman from Carsonville.

The pickup truck also had a 17­­-year­-old male, a 13­­-year­-old girl, an 11­-year­-old girl and a 51­-year­-old man, all from Rochester.

The 13­-year­-old and 11­-year­-old girls from Rochester were transported to McKenzie Hospital by Sanilac EMS for treatment of injuries. The 41­-year­-old woman from Carsonville had to be extricated by the Jaws of Life due to being pinned inside of her vehicle. She was then transported from the scene to Saginaw Covenant Cooper by Lifenet Helicopter for treatment of injuries.

All subjects were believed to have been wearing seat belts and air bags did deploy on both vehicles. Sandusky and Carsonville Fire Departments and Sandusky Police assisted on scene. Sanilac EMS from the Sandusky base and Carsonville base treated the injured. The accident remains under investigation and the names are being withheld pending possible charges.
