Waterford Woman Points Gun at Man in Troy during I-75 Road Rage Incident


TROY, MI – Troy Police Officers responded to the area on report of the driver of a black 2012 Chevrolet Impala pointed a gun at the driver of a blue 2000 Dodge Dakota Pick-up Truck during a road rage incident on the north-bound I- 75 exit ramp to Rochester Road on Saturday June 3rd, 2017 at approximately 3:30 PM.

The officers located both the drivers of each vehicle and spoke with them to determine what had occurred.




The driver of the pick-up, a 52-year-old male from Saint Clair Shores, stated he was being tailgated by the driver of the Impala while driving on the interstate. When they both stopped at the end of the exit ramp, the subject rolled his window down, asking the driver of the Impala what her problem was. The subject stated the female driver pointed a gun at him and told him to Get away”. He denied doing anything wrong to cause the incident.

The officers then spoke with the driver of the Impala, a 56-year-old woman from Waterford, who admitted there was a handgun in her vehicle. Officers retrieved the Smith and Wesson MP Shield .40 Caliber Handgun that contained 7 rounds of ammunition with one chambered. The officers made the gun safe and took possession of it.

The driver admitted to pointing the handgun at the driver of the pick-up, but only after hearing an object strike her vehicle twice. She stated she saw a bolt in the roadway near her vehicle and assumed the driver threw it at her. She stated she only raised it and pointed it toward his back seat area when she told him to back off but he refused. Inside the pick-up, officers located several bolts and screws. Officers also located a lug nut and a bolt and screw at the end of the exit ramp. The male subject was issued a Misdemeanor Citation for Throwing an Object at a Vehicle and was released from the scene.

The female driver was arrested and charged with Felonious Assault with a Handgun.
