Suspect from Flint area Assaults another Man on Beach in Benzie County

ELBERTA, MI – The Michigan State Police Cadillac Post is investigating an aggravated assault that occurred at  Elberta Beach, South of the Pier in Benzie County, at approximately 2:30 a.m., on Wednesday July 5th, 2017.

The assault occurred when a suspect approached the neighboring tent and asked the man and woman who were occupying that tent to quiet down.

When the male occupant opened the tent, he was assaulted and severely beaten by the suspect which resulted in fractures to the victims face and skull, along with several stitches to his mouth and eye.

The victim was driven to Munson Hospital Manistee and later transferred to Munson Hospital Traverse City.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20’s, approximately 6 feet tall, thin muscular build, short light hair, and was wearing white swim shorts and a cowboy hat with an American flag design on it.  The suspect was heard earlier in the evening telling others that he was from Flint.
