Domestic Assault in Oakland County leads to Multiple Drug Charges

INDEPENDENCE CHARTER TOWNSHIP, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of N. Ridge Trail and Pine Knob Rd for a reported Domestic Assault in progress.

The complainant called 9-1-1 to report that a woman was yelling for help as she was trying to get away from the driver of a red Jeep. The 17 year old woman, of Brandon Township, managed to get out of the Jeep, but the driver, a 22 year old male, of Brandon Township, ran after her and forced her back into the vehicle. The driver then slapped the woman in the face. The Jeep drove off at a high rate of speed and turned northbound on Sashabaw Rd. The complainant then lost sight of the vehicle.

While responding to the area, Deputies received an update from the Sheriff’s Operations Center that the Jeep had been involved in a rollover accident near the intersection of Sashabaw and Seymour Lake road in Brandon Township.

Deputies and the Brandon Township Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash. The driver and passenger were out of the vehicle and neither person was seriously injured. Deputies interviewed the two subjects regarding the incident and arrested the driver.

Upon arrest, Deputies discovered a quantity of Heroin, Cocaine, Ecstasy and Xanax on his person. The Arrestee was transported to McLaren Hospital – Oakland for a blood draw and a medical clearance. He was lodged at the Oakland County Jail on the charges of Domestic Assault, Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Drugs and Possession of a Controlled substance with the Intent to Deliver. Detectives will be continuing with the investigation.
