Groundbreaking Marks Downtown Pontiac’s Redevelopment

PONTIAC, MI – Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will be among the speakers during a ceremonial groundbreaking for the site of the new George W. Auch Co. corporate headquarters.

The project is one of the first from-the-ground-up projects in downtown Pontiac in a long time, symbolizing the resurgence of the city. In addition to the speakers, there will be a number of Pontiac’s business and community leaders in attendance along with representatives from local colleges, universities and schools to share in this important occasion.

George W. Auch Company reached an agreement in May of 2016 with RACER Trust, the entity which acquired General Motors former properties following its 2009 bankruptcy, to purchase 3.6 acres located on University Drive in downtown Pontiac to build their new headquarters.

Auch said it plans to construct a two-story building up to 20,000 square feet designed to support future expansion. AUCH will retain 40 to 50 engineering, construction management and administrative jobs in the city. The company will move from offices on South Paddock Street in Pontiac when construction is complete and plans to participate in the future redevelopment of that site.
