3 Separate Vehicle Crashes keep Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office busy

SANDUSKY, MI – Three separate vehicle crashes kept Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies busy over the weekend.

On Saturday, August 26th, 2017 at approximately 12:53 a.m., Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a single vehicle accident on Ubly Road near Shabbona Road in Sanilac County’s Argyle Township.

According to Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 26 year old Applegate man was southbound on Ubly Road when the driver reportedly fell asleep. Initially the vehicle went off the roadway and then re-entered the roadway, at which time the driver over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle again went into the ditch, hitting an embankment, before overturning and coming to rest on its wheels. The accident caused extensive damage to the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Argyle Fire/ Rescue and Sanilac EMS assisted at the scene.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending further investigation into this accident.

The second vehicle crash was reported on Saturday, August 26th, 2017 at approximately 11:59 p.m.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a single vehicle accident on Basler Road near Ridge Road in Sanilac County’s Sanilac Township. The 9-1-1 call came from a citizen who was driving on Basler Road and came across the accident.

According to Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies a 2000 Dodge Durango was westbound on Basler Road. The vehicle failed to stop at and ultimately lost control upon passing through the intersection at Ridge Road. The vehicle entered the ditch and overturned before coming to rest on its wheels. The accident caused extensive damage to the vehicle. The one occupant, a 40 year old Carsonville man was transported from the scene by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. The occupant was later transported to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw by Sanilac EMS for further treatment.

Port Sanilac Fire/ Rescue and Sanilac EMS assisted at the scene.

Names are being withheld pending further investigation into this accident. Alcohol and speed are believed to be potential factors.

In the last accident over the weekend, on Sunday, August 27th, 2017, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Sanilac County Central Dispatch received an emergency call from On-Star reporting a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Campbell Road and Miller Road in Watertown Township.

According to Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 42 year old Sandusky man, was traveling southbound on Campbell Road when he failed to stop at the intersection. The vehicle continued through the T intersection and struck a tree before coming to a stop. The accident caused substantial damage to the vehicle. The driver was transported from the scene by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries before being flown to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw by Life Net.

Sandusky Fire, Sanilac EMS and Sandusky Police Department assisted at the scene.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor and names are being withheld pending further investigation into this accident.
