WESTLAND, MI – A mother and her children were having lunch when they noticed a Westland Police officer doing his job and then some.

The photo which appeared on the Wayne Neighbors Discussion Board Facebook page was posted by Megan Blackburn. It was then brought to the attention of those at the Westland Police Department by multiple people who wanted them to be aware that one of their officers was being recognized for his efforts.

In the very special and heartwarming photo, the officer can be seen assisting an elderly woman, who needs a cane to help get her around, with her bags. It is evident that the officer is very patient by allowing her to take the time she needs to make her way.

Megan stated in her post of Facebook , “As we were getting lunch we saw a Westland Police officer helping a older lady.. just wanted to say that you for setting a great Example for my children.”

The Westland Police Department thanked Megan for taking the time to show the community an example of how they help. They also stated “We are not at all surprised to see something like this. We appreciate that the original post by Megan Blackburn took the time to acknowledge this officer for going above and beyond.”
