Arraignment for Man Charged in Divine Child Arson UPDATE

DEARBORN, MI – On Thursday August 31st, 2017, David Allen Cerne was arraigned in the 19th District Court by the Honorable Judge Mark Somers.

David Cerne was also arraigned on additional Dearborn charges relating to a second incident involving explosives placed in a trash can that occurred on August 23rd, 2017 in the area of Cherry Hill and Telegraph.

Bond was set at $100,000 cash on both cases and a probable cause conference was scheduled for September 8, 2017, at 9:00am. A preliminary exam date of September 15, 2017, has also been set.

AHRC condemns attack on Divine Child Church in Dearborn, salutes police for catching the suspect:

The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) joins all peace-loving people in Dearborn, Michigan and across the nation, in condemning the cowardly attack on the Divine Child Church in Dearborn.

The perpetrator entered the church on August 23 and threw what appeared to be fireworks that caused some damages to the church and startled the worshipers. According to Dearborn Police, this suspect who committed this act of hate is responsible for similar incidents around the city.

“We salute the Dearborn police for arresting the suspect,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “The right to worship in safety and peace is sacrosanct and is a fundamental human right,” added Hamad
