DETROIT, MI – Travun Eugene-Jani Baskerville, 26-years-old, of Detroit, has been charged in connection with the murder of Douglas Jeffrey Calhoun, 39-years-old, and human trafficking a 17-year-old female. All of the parties are Detroit residents.
Chef Doug was last seen by a relative on May 31st, 2017. Calhoun had been missing since the morning of June 1. He returned to his home about 3:30 a.m. that morning in the 3500 block of West Outer Drive in Detroit after a night out with his friends. He let them know by phone that he had made it home safely. That was the last known communication that he would have with others.
A missing person report was filed with the Sixth Police Precinct on June 2nd, 2017. On July 7th, 2017, Chef Doug’s lifeless body was discovered, stuffed in a barrel, at a vacant dwelling in the 14600 block of Greydale Street in Detroit. The medical examiner determined he died from multiple gunshot wounds.
On June 1st, 2017, it is alleged that Baskerville had been engaged in human trafficking a 17-year-old female. On the same day, it is alleged that she phoned Calhoun and arranged a date with him at Baskerville’s home in the 14600 block of Burgess in Detroit. During the date, it is alleged that Calhoun and Baskerville had an argument that led to Baskerville fatally shoot ing Calhoun and subsequently remove his body to a vacant house on Greydale.
Baskerville has been charged with First Degree Murder, Human Trafficking Enterprise Involving Death, Human Trafficking of a Minor for Commercial Sexual Activity, Child Sexually Abusive Activity, Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Felony Firearm.
On the morning of Friday, September 1, 2017, at 11:00 AM, Baskerville will be video arraigned on the charges in 36th District Court.
