DETROIT, MI – At approximately 9:30AM on Thursday, August 31st, 2017, authorities were called to Belle Isle on a report of a woman who had jumped off of the bridge into the Detroit River.
The woman, who is said to be in her 30’s, jumped into the Detroit River off of the MacArthur Bridge and had not resurfaced. Police were able to locate her in the water. She was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital from the Boat House on Belle Isle.
While enroute to the hospital, EMS workers were performing life saving measures of CPR on the victim. Her current condition is unknown at this time.
The MacArthur Bridge spans 2,356 feet, with a roughly 30-foot drop to the water.
