Teen Facing Manslaughter Charges in Madison Heights Hotel Shooting

MADISON HEIGHTS, MI – A Hamtramck teen faces manslaughter charges in Madison Heights after police say he fatally shot a man at a Days Inn Hotel room.

Christian Dejuan Washington, 17-years-old, was arraigned Friday in Madison Heights 43rd District Court with death by a weapon that was aimed with intent but without malice, and felony firearm charges. He is jailed on $1 million cash bond.

Police said they were called to the Days Inn at 1331 W. 14 Mile Road about 1 p.m. Wednesday after someone called 911.

The victim is identified as Adrian A. Green Jr. of Southfield, who died a day after the shooting.

Madison Height Police Lt. Mike Siladke said in a release that police recovered the handgun in the shooting and arrested Washington shortly after they arrived to investigate the hotel shooting. Green was still alive at the time and taken to a hospital.

“The investigation showed that the multiple people in the hotel room were all acquainted with each other and frequently stayed at hotel rooms in and around the Oakland and Macomb County area,” Siladke said. “It was determined that the handgun used in the shooting was being recklessly handled prior to the shooting and that the suspect intentionally pointed the gun at the victim for an unknown reason and pulled the trigger.”

Washington is scheduled for a probable cause hearing in Madison Heights District Court at 8 a.m. Sept. 13.

If convicted, Washington faces up to 15 years in prison on the manslaughter charge. The felony firearm charge against him is a two-year felony.
