CHIPPEWA COUNTY, MI – On Monday September 4th, 2017, at about Midnight, Chippewa County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a report of a domestic violence involving a discharge of a firearm and a stabbing.
The incident occurred at a residence on Lake George Rd just south of E Bailey Rd on Sugar Island.
During the domestic assault, the suspect fired multiple rounds into the floor. A 12 year old boy, fearing for his mother’s life, then stabbed the suspect four times in the back. In the ensuing melee, the suspect ran out of the house looking for the boy. The mother and child ran out the back door in an attempt to escape the suspect. After several hours and several attempts to make contact, a male suspect was taken into the custody of the Sheriff’s Department while the investigation continues.
Personnel from several agencies were involved in the incident including the US Border Patrol, Michigan State Police, Chippewa County Sheriff Department, Chippewa County Central Dispatch and Sugar Island EMS.
