Detroit Man gets Shot at after being released from Prison when he was Wrongly Convicted

DETROIT, MI – Davontae Sanford, 24-years-old, of Detroit, who served close to nine years in prison for a quadruple murder, then was released from prison after evidence proved he was innocent, was shot by an unknown gunman on Saturday September 24th, 2017.

Sanford was fired upon near the Martin Luther King apartments on East Lafayette. He was walking to a friend’s house when he tried out running the bullets from the shooters gun. He was struck in the leg by at least one bullet. His injuries are non-life threatening.

Jermaine Tilmon, Devonte’s stepfather, was killed in the 3600 block of Chatsworth on Detroit’s east side on Thursday November 3rd, 2016.

In June of 2016, Sanford walked out of a prison when a judge erased the guilty pleas at the request of Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy.
