Woman wanted for arson arrested after Police Chase in Detroit

DETROIT, MI – At approximately 11:29AM on Thursday September 28th, 2017, while monitoring the police scanner for Detroit, an officer was heard transmitting to Central Dispatch that they were in pursuit of a vehicle on the west side of the city.

Other officers in scout cars in the area joined in to assist in the chase.  Behind the wheel of that car was a female and in the backseat of the fleeing vehicle was a 7 month of baby.

The woman drove her vehicle down an alley where she then stopped the car and fled on foot. She was immediately taken into custody at 11:38AM when Detroit Police Officers caught up to her during the foot chase.

After the chase had ended, it was learned that the woman was wanted by authorities for arson. She had set a residence on fire on the afternoon of Wednesday September 27th.

Authorities were trying to make contact with family members to come and take custody of the 7-month-old child.

No one was injured during the incident.
