DETROIT, MI – A 13-year-old boy from Detroit is in the hospital after he shot himself with his 19-year-old brother’s gun on Tuesday October 3rd, 2017.
Tuesday evening, at approximately 9:15PM, police were called to the shooting that happened near Southfield and 8 Mile roads.
The initial investigation revealed that the 13-year-old had been reprimanded by his parents prior to the shooting. He became upset and angry where he then shot himself in the head with a gun that was in the house.
During the investigation, authorities were able to determine that the gun belonged to a 19-year-old brother of the victim. The 19-year-old was arrested because it was his gun used in the shooting. Police stated that the gun should not have been in the house because it was purchased illegally.
At last check, the 13-year-old victim remains in critical condition in the hospital.
