16 yr old Killed in Mason County Crash

SHERMAN TOWNSHIP, MI – On Friday October 6th, 2017, at 8:03 PM, Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 2-vehicle crash on US31 at the Sugar Grove Road intersection in Sherman Township.

The crash occurred when a 2007 Pontiac G5, traveling westbound on Sugar Grove Rd., failed to stop for the stop sign at US31 and struck a northbound semi-truck. The vehicle went under the trailer and was dragged down the road.

The driver of the passenger car was identified as Henry Gordon Macdougall, 16-years-old, from Ludington. He was treated at the scene by LIFE EMS and then flown by Aero Med to a down state hospital where he passed away from his injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck, James Douglas Ellis, 51-years-old, from Bradford AR, was uninjured.

Scottville, Custer Township and Fountain Area Fire & Rescue, along with LIFE EMS assisted deputies at the scene.
