PONTIAC, MI – On Sunday October 8th, 2017, Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Newman Lane Apartments for multiple gunshots at approximately 2:00AM.
While searching the area, the Sheriff’s Operations Center was advised that there was a gunshot victim who had just arrived at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital – Oakland. Deputies learned that the victim at the hospital had been shot multiple times and was listed in a critical condition.
The victim is identified as LaJajuan Hunt, 27 years old, from Pontiac.
Deputies located a crime scene in the 600 block of Newman Lane. Deputies secured the scene and requested the Oakland County Forensic Science Lab to assist processing the crime scene along with detectives. It was later determined by detectives that LaJajuan Hunt had been in the area of Newman Lane Apartments with friends prior to the shooting and he later returned and he exchanged gunfire with a subject who is currently unidentified.
Later in the day on Sunday, LaJajuan Hunt was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation is continuing.
